The Irigy Hónaljmirigy band celebrated their 35th anniversary with a sold-out concert at the MVM Dome on February 28, 2026. For generations of fans, the group’s parodies have grow a cultural touchstone, and the band continues to resonate with audiences today.
While younger fans may be familiar with the band’s more recent work, the eight-member group – comprised of Sipos Péter, Sipos Tamás, Varga György, Kabai László, Molnár Imre, Papp Ferenc, Uszkó László, and Csarnoki Antal (who joined after Ambrus Zoltán) – has a decades-long history of memorable performances, including their popular television show, the Irigy Hónaljmirigy Show.
Band members Sipos Péter and Kabai László recently told Index that the show has undergone a complete revamp, with the setlist including songs they haven’t played in over 20 years. They likewise shared that the stage has been visually updated, and that they selected around 30 songs from their catalog of over 700 tracks. You can read more about the concert preparations here.
Arriving at the MVM Dome about 20 minutes before the official start time on Saturday night, we found crowds already gathering at each entrance. Despite the large turnout, entry to the arena was surprisingly quick. Once inside, the scene was both surprising, and moving.
The energy in the MVM Dome rivaled that of many international acts, with fans packed from floor to ceiling and standing room filling up quickly. Considering the band was celebrating its 35th anniversary, the impressive attendance wasn’t entirely unexpected, especially given their broad fanbase spanning multiple generations. Still, the sheer scale of the crowd was exhilarating – a testament to the enduring appeal of a long-standing Hungarian band competing with international headliners.
Irigy Hónaljmirigy’s humor may not appeal to everyone, but it’s undeniable that they connect with a wide range of audiences and provided entertainment for the nation during their television heyday. Their comedic style remains relevant in contemporary Hungarian series, which often employ similar humor. The band has also carved out a unique niche for themselves, forging their own path and maintaining authenticity throughout their career.
Even before the concert began, the atmosphere in the MVM Dome was electric. The band took the stage following an opening act called Voices, about 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, and their entrance was memorable. They launched into a song familiar from Macskajaj, followed by a short film depicting the band members traveling to the MVM Dome by plane, culminating in a dramatic parachute jump. During their descent, some were shown playing cards, eating, and even shaving, with Kabai László seen giving himself a shave. Upon landing, all eight members appeared on stage, which, as they’d promised, had undergone a significant makeover.
Everything Was On Display
The band was joined by Uszkó László on keyboards, Kabai László on drums, Molnár Imre on bass, Papp Ferenc and Csarnoki Antal on guitar, as well as a trumpeter and saxophonist. Sipos Péter and Sipos Tamás primarily handled the vocals. The stage featured a large central screen, two long side screens, and five vertically moving screens overhead, all used effectively. From cocktail bars to boxing rings, beaches, and a parody of the Mol refinery, everything was visually represented.
And beyond the modern technology, smoke and flame effects were also deployed, while the band members themselves didn’t hold back. Throughout the concert, they changed costumes 30 times, constantly shifting between musical genres, making it nearly impossible to keep up with the rapid transformations. At times, they donned skullcaps, red or brown wigs, and mustaches, while at others, they sported dresses and high heels. It was as if Irigy Hónaljmirigy was putting on a drag show without even realizing it.
This concert was created for charitable purposes, with all proceeds going into the Irigy Hónaljmirigy pension fund
Sipos Tamás joked, adding: “With a 35-year-old band, you never know if there will be another opportunity. Whether there will be an opportunity to thank the team for these 35 years of love, and to make those dreams come true that we perhaps didn’t even think of.”

Watching the audience at the MVM Dome on Saturday night, perhaps I wasn’t the only one who came to similar conclusions before the concert even began. Following a performance by the opening act, Voices, the band took the stage about 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, and their entrance was unforgettable.
They launched into a song known from Macskajaj, followed by a short film depicting the band members traveling to the MVM Dome by plane, culminating in a dramatic parachute jump. During their descent, some were shown playing cards, eating, and even shaving, with Kabai László seen giving himself a shave. Upon landing, all eight members appeared on stage, which, as they’d promised, had undergone a significant makeover.
The band performed their classic hits – Mi ez a szar…?, Tik vagytok parasztok, Anyáddal jártam, Szívós Szemű Márta, Nem élhetek pia nélkül, Mirigy Show, Numerakirály – alongside newer songs – Nincs fuxa jáj, Apu, vedd meg a Rakpartot, Mindenki Majka, JÓISTEN, Reptér – and novel segments. This included Papp Ferenc’s performance as a Malév flight attendant, providing the audience with information such as using disposable paper bags for nausea and befriending heavier passengers to appear slimmer.
Celebrity Cameos and Satire
They also took aim at both major commercial television channels and well-known personalities. This included a parody of Csillag születik (Hungary’s version of “Pop Idol”), titled Hullócsillag születik, featuring Molnár Imre and Papp Ferenc as contestants.
Ádám, please reassure the audience that you don’t aim for to sing, due to the fact that your voice is more suitable for dispersing crowds
Sipos Tamás said, before turning to Zsüliett, joking that she hadn’t been deprived of feed. Sipos noted that he thought she was pregnant, adding: “She’s on a special diet, but she sneaks a little extra.”
They also parodied Pápai Joci, referring to him as “Majka ordered from Temu,” and lampooned Korda György, Balázs Klára, Marsalkó Dávid, and Majka – the latter sending a video message to the band, jokingly saying: “You insult everyone, then you’ll be surprised when someone finally punches you in the face.” Gáspár Győző was also a target, due to his elimination from A Nagy Duett after performing Shallow from A Star is Born, a performance that didn’t resonate with viewers.
When I was there, the rotten jury never gave me a single ten points. Rest assured, I cast a very strong curse on them then
Varga György said, while portraying Győzike, wearing a zebra-patterned hat and outfit.

they staged a “clash of the century” between Pettyes, the scruffy one, and Tomi, the rogue, in a short film, parodying Sztárbox, but instead of a boxing match, they engaged in a drinking contest. In the locker room, Pettyes said: “I was vomiting acid 20 minutes ago, but I’m starting to feel a little better.” To which his opponent, Tomi, responded with a succinct and memorable answer:
Well, I guess I won’t be walking.
Special Guests
The band also featured special guests, including Kovács Ákos, who was present at their first concert at the Budapest Sports Arena, so it was clear he would be invited. They performed Ilyenek voltunk together, after which the singer said: “People like me don’t dare to venture into the MVM Dome for a concert anymore, so this is a great honor for me to come into a packed arena and play a song.” Galambos Lajos also took the stage following a simulated power outage, as the band’s career began after appearing on Dáridó, and they owe him a great deal.
30 years ago, Irigy Hónaljmirigy debuted on the Dáridó show, where I shared the screen and the stage with them. Today they invited me here, and they shared it with me, after a truly unfair situation. Thank you to them and thank you to you. But playing the song they asked for, the big fuss, because everyone needs a power outage from time to time
He declared, before performing Próbálj meg lazítani.

The final guest was Rúzsa Magdi, invited on stage by “Vazul Néni,” who launched into a performance of Highway To Hell after Sipos Tamás invited a young fan, Krisztián, from the audience to accompany her on air guitar – and the band and Rúzsa signed a bass guitar as a gift. The band’s tribute to the late Ambrus Zoltán, with images projected in the sky as if he were looking down on them, and the performance of an R-Go parody of Létezem, featuring his voice, was also a moving moment. Sipos Péter said:
Fortunately, only one awful thing happened in the last 35 years, but many lovely memories remain. I think Zolika is proud of us now and is watching us from above. We still receive a lot of emails and Facebook posts about how much you miss him, and we miss him too, believe me
He also announced that they will perform at the Barna Negrá on May 31, where they will play Ambrus’s favorite songs with various guest stars, paying tribute to his memory.
It’s safe to say that Irigy Hónaljmirigy delivered on every level at their anniversary concert. As Sipos Tamás position it, perhaps they didn’t know what the future holds, so they decided to go all in. They also reaffirmed that this form of parody requires as much musical skill as any other respected genre. While there were occasional missed cues or forgotten lyrics, these are common occurrences at live concerts, and the band’s willingness to embrace imperfection only made them more relatable and authentic, which the audience greatly appreciated. As evidenced by the thunderous applause they received, and the tears in Kabai László’s eyes at the end of the concert.
