Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), warned that restoring oil and gas flows from the Persian Gulf could take six months.

Birol added that politicians and markets are underestimating the extent of disruption to oil and gas infrastructure in the Persian Gulf region.

1:12 PM Switzerland Blocks Arms Exports to U.S. Over War with Iran

Switzerland has suspended the approval of arms exports to the United States, citing its neutrality amid the ongoing Israeli-American war against Iran.

In a statement Friday, the government said that “the export of military material to countries involved in an international armed conflict with Iran cannot be authorized during the conflict.”

1:04 PM Syria Seeks to Avoid Conflict, President Al-Shar’a Says

Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar’a stated that his country “is carefully calculating its steps and working to keep Syria out of any conflict,” according to the state news agency SANA.

In a speech from the presidential palace following prayers marking Eid al-Adha, he said Syria is “in full solidarity with Arab states.”

“What is happening now is a significant and rare event in history that we have not witnessed since World War II,” the Islamist leader added.

Recall that the Israeli army stated on Friday that it had struck Syrian military positions in response to an alleged attack by Syrian soldiers on civilians from the Druze minority in the Suwayda region.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will halt attacks on Iranian energy sites after U.S. President Donald Trump reacted angrily to an Israeli strike on a facility linked to the world’s largest natural gas field, South Pars.

Netanyahu also said that Israel “acted alone” in the attack, seemingly confirming Trump’s claim that the U.S. Was not informed in advance. Yet, U.S. And Israeli sources familiar with the attack told CNN on Wednesday that the U.S. Was aware of the operation, contradicting the statements of both leaders.

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Israeli Ambassador Oded Joseph after an Israeli rocket attack injured a Russia Today television crew reporting in southern Lebanon.

On Thursday, ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that “the circumstances suggest that the attack on the journalists was deliberate and targeted,” calling it a “gross violation of international law.”

10:40 AM Iran’s Supreme Leader Declares Security Must Be Denied to the Enemy

Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, declared that security must be denied to all enemies of Iran. He made the statement after the killing of the intelligence minister in Tehran earlier this week.

Khamenei, who has not appeared publicly since being chosen as his father’s successor on March 9, said in a Friday message: “Security must be denied to both internal and external enemies and provided to all our compatriots.”

Israel struck Iranian intelligence minister Esmail Khatib on Tuesday night, a day after killing top Iranian security official Ali Larijani.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned the United Kingdom in a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper that allowing the U.S. To use British military bases would be considered participation in aggression.

“The United States and the Israeli regime have attacked our country in violation of all international principles and rules,” he said, according to a statement published on his Telegram channel.
