Twelve medical personnel were killed in an Israeli strike on a clinic in southern Lebanon on Saturday, according to Lebanese health authorities.
Lebanon was drawn into the wider Middle Eastern conflict last week when the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel in response to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in U.S. And Israeli strikes.
“Hezbollah” leader Naim Qassem stated on Friday that the group is prepared for a prolonged confrontation with Israel.
Lebanese health authorities reported that the Israeli strike killed 12 doctors, paramedics, and medical assistants working at a healthcare facility in the city of Burjkalaviyah.
The incident followed another strike in the city of Sawana, which resulted in the deaths of two paramedics affiliated with Hezbollah and its allied group, Amal.
