Israel’s military has conducted strikes within Iran, targeting facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions. The strikes, carried out by Israeli fighter jets, reportedly killed members of the IRGC who were operating inside a facility in the capital, Tehran, according to the Israeli military.

The military stated that the attacks in Tehran specifically targeted headquarters and command centers belonging to the IRGC’s air force, as well as a complex within Imam Hussein University, a military academy affiliated with the Guard. Officials said the university complex had been used as a gathering point for Iranian personnel, alongside sites for storing and producing ballistic missiles and air defense systems.

Further strikes targeted headquarters and military bases belonging to Iran’s internal security forces, the Basij paramilitary organization, and a facility linked to the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, the Israeli military added.

According to a military statement, these attacks represent a new phase in the conflict, aimed at “deepening the strike against the infrastructure of the Iranian regime.” The development underscores growing regional instability and the potential for further retaliation.

In response, Iran’s semi-official news agency reported that attacks by Israeli drones resulted in the deaths of “a number of security forces and Basij personnel stationed at checkpoints” in areas south and north of Tehran.

The strikes come amid heightened anxieties over Iran’s nuclear program and its support for regional proxies, and could influence future diplomatic talks regarding the region’s security.
