Israeli forces conducted strikes against Iranian vessels in the Caspian Sea on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, as part of a joint offensive with the United States against Iran that began on February 28, 2026. The strikes mark a significant escalation in the ongoing operation and highlight the broadening geographic scope of the conflict.

“The Air Force, under the direction of naval and military intelligence, attacked several key Iranian naval infrastructure sites last night for the first time since the start of ‘Lion Roar’ operation in the Caspian Sea,” a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (FDI) said.

The FDI detailed that the targets included Iranian navy warships, including missile boats equipped with air defense systems and additional anti-submarine missiles, as well as auxiliary and patrol vessels. The operation underscores the increasing complexity of naval confrontations in the region.

Israeli forces also reported hitting a headquarters used by Iranian naval forces to conduct operations in the Caspian Sea, along with infrastructure used for the repair and maintenance of the vessels.

“This is one of the most significant attacks by the FDI since the beginning of ‘Lion Roar’ operation, which was carried out in close cooperation between Air Force and Navy commanders from inside the Air Force bunker,” the statement continued.
