Israeli airstrikes targeted areas in and around Beirut on Monday night, marking a significant escalation in regional tensions. The attacks, which struck the southern suburbs of the city, come after a two-day period of relative calm.

According to reports, the strikes hit several locations including Bir al-Abd, the outskirts of al-Manshiyeh, Haret Hreik, the Sayyed Hadi Nasrallah highway, San Terez, Burj al-Barajneh, and al-Kafaat. The strikes were carried out by Israeli warplanes, according to multiple sources.

The Israeli military confirmed it launched a wave of attacks against targets linked to Hezbollah in Beirut, and stated its naval forces targeted a commander from Iran’s Quds Force within the Lebanese capital. This suggests a broadening of Israel’s targeting criteria in the ongoing conflict.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported one fatality as a result of an Israeli strike on an apartment in the al-Hazemiyeh district of Beirut. The incident underscores the growing civilian impact of the escalating hostilities.

In southern Lebanon, Lebanese media outlets reported at least three deaths and several injuries. The Health Ministry announced two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the village of Bashamoun in the Mount Lebanon region. Another person was killed and others injured after Israeli forces opened fire during an incursion into the town of Halta in southern Lebanon.

Israeli forces also reportedly infiltrated the village of al-Qawzah in the Bent Jbeil district, accompanied by heavy artillery and tank fire, engaging in clashes with Hezbollah militants.

the towns of al-Burghaliyah and al-Rashidiyah were targeted in Israeli airstrikes after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to residents, urging them to move north of the Zahrani River.

The Israeli military also announced the “arrest” of two Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, amid the ongoing conflict that began in early March, coinciding with the war in Iran.
