ISTANBUL PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION COSTS INCREASE
Commuters in Istanbul are facing significantly higher fares for public transportation, with increases of up to 25.49% taking effect today, February 12, 2026. The price hikes impact the popular Marmaray line, as well as several bus and ferry routes, adding to the financial strain on residents who rely on these services.

A full-price ticket on the Marmaray and these commuter lines now costs 34 lira, while student fares are 16.48 lira. Discounted tickets for those 30 and over are priced at 30.60 lira, and fares for passengers aged 60-65 are 24.16 lira.
The Halkalı-Bahçeşehir and Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme commuter lines too reflect the new pricing structure, with full fares at 34 lira, student fares at 16 lira, discounted fares for those 30 and over at 30.60 lira, and fares for those 60-65 at 24.16 lira.
Ferry services operated by İDO Deniz Otobüsleri have also implemented new fares. A passenger ticket on the Sirkeci–Harem car ferry route is now 40.39 lira, with student tickets costing 24.32 lira.
