Italy is urging its citizens to leave Iran amid escalating regional tensions, with officials warning of potential military activity.

The Italian Foreign Ministry likewise advised against all travel to Iraq and recommended postponing non-essential trips to Lebanon.

Italy previously called for its citizens to depart Iran in January following the outbreak of protests, and repatriated non-essential embassy staff at that time.

“Italian citizens currently in Iran for tourism or whose presence is not strictly necessary are invited to leave the country,” the Ministry stated, also discouraging travel to Iran for any reason.

Regarding the situation in Israel, Italian nationals were advised to exercise “maximum attention,” remain “alert,” and stay informed about emergency procedures and local authority guidance.

“The security situation remains unstable at the regional level,” the Italian Ministry said, adding that its embassies throughout the area are on alert and in constant contact with the Crisis Unit to assist any Italian citizens in need.

French authorities have also cautioned against travel to Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank on Friday, citing potential security risks related to tensions with Iran, against a backdrop of military threats from the United States.

The advisories from France and Italy came on the same day the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem authorized the departure of non-essential U.S. Government personnel and their families due to “security risks.”
