Jagiellonia Białystok fell 3-0 to Fiorentina in the first leg of their Conference League round of 16 matchup. Despite the defeat, Bartłomiej Wdowik stated on Polsat Sport that “Duma Podlasia” will travel for the second leg with the intention of advancing.

The match began as a closely contested affair, remaining scoreless through the first half and accurately reflecting the balance of play in the opening 45 minutes.

Although, the second half saw a significant shift in momentum as Paolo Vanole’s side took control. Luca Ranieri broke the deadlock, followed by a Rolando Mandragora strike from a free kick and a Roberto Piccoli penalty to complete the scoring.

We could have taken a few more risks in the first half, but it felt like we had the match under control and possessed the ball. It’s difficult to say anything about the second half. Three conceded goals, practically all from set pieces. They exploited our weaknesses– Wdowik told Polsat Sport.

We’re looking forward to the return leg, because from a playing perspective we can show ourselves well. We’re going there and we can overturn this deficit. Football writes different scenarios. We have to fight, play a bit like we did in the first half and add more chances – the defender added.

Wdowik has featured in 32 matches for Jagiellonia this season, contributing three assists.

Jagiellonia will return to Ekstraklasa action on Sunday against Radomiak. They then travel to Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday, February 26, to attempt to overcome the odds and eliminate Fiorentina from the competition.
