Former Watertown Broadcaster Jan Robson Receives South Dakota Broadcasters Association Award
Jan Robson, a longtime radio personality formerly of KXLG in Watertown, was presented with the 2025 South Dakota Broadcasters Association (SDBA) Distinguished Service Award today at the association’s annual state leadership conference in Sioux Falls.
The SDBA Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to the broadcasting industry, supported its advertisers, or served their communities. Robson began her 40-year broadcasting career in 1979 at KOKK in Huron, following her graduation from the Brown Institute in Minneapolis. She subsequently worked at KMSD in Milbank and KWAT & KIXX before joining KXLG in 2009 as an early hire.
Throughout her career, Robson has held various roles including on-air broadcaster, news director, and program director. Beyond her professional duties, she was actively involved in community service, volunteering with the Salvation Army, performing Christmas carols at assisted living facilities, and promoting local charities on the air. This award highlights the importance of local broadcasting in fostering community engagement. Robson retired from KXLG in August 2025.
