Following recent discussions, the possibility of a rematch between Japan and Taiwan in the 2024 12-Team Tournament is gaining traction, though securing a victory won’t be easy. Several prominent figures in Japanese baseball have weighed in on the challenges ahead.
Former national team manager and current Chunichi Dragons manager, Atsushi Ogata, acknowledged the difficulty of facing the defending champions. “It will be very difficult,” Ogata stated, recognizing Taiwan’s strength and the competitive landscape of international baseball.
