Jelgava athletes claimed Baltic championship titles in indoor pentathlon competition held on March 13, 2026, showcasing impressive performances across multiple disciplines.
The Baltic team championship in indoor pentathlon took place in Tallinn, with two athletes from Jelgava emerging victorious. The competition highlights the rising talent in Latvian athletics and sets the stage for future regional contests.
Emīlija Brauna, representing Jelgava Children and Youth Sports School (BJSS), Jelgava Athletics Club, and Murjāņu Sports Gymnasium, secured the championship in the U-18 age group with a total of 4017 points. She excelled in five events: the 60-meter hurdles (8.55 seconds), high jump (1.62 meters), shot put (11.24 meters), long jump (5.75 meters), and 800-meter run (2:16.87 minutes). Brauna’s long jump result was the third-highest among Latvian athletes at the championship, while her 800-meter time ranked sixth.
Also competing in this group was Alise Blaua, also from Jelgava BJSS and Jelgava Athletics Club, but she sustained an injury during the final event and was forced to withdraw, according to coach Aļona Fomenko.
In the U-16 age group, Beāte Blaua, representing Jelgava BJSS and Jelgava Athletics Club, won the championship with 3380 points. Like the U-18 group, athletes competed in five events: the 60-meter hurdles (9.22 seconds), high jump (1.59 meters), shot put (11.34 meters), long jump (5.27 meters), and 800-meter run (2:43.01 minute).
