Jombang, Indonesia – Local authorities are intensifying mosquito control efforts in Jombang Regency as cases of dengue fever continue to rise. As of March 20, 2026, the region has reported 129 cases of the mosquito-borne illness in the past month and a half, with 100 cases recorded in October alone, according to local reports.

Serda Sya’bani, a member of the Mojowarno Subdistrict Military Command, is leading preventative measures in the village of Mojowangi, focusing on areas identified as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. These efforts involve collaboration with local health volunteers, known as Jumantik cadres, to ensure effective and safe fogging procedures throughout residential areas.

“These mosquito control measures are being implemented to reduce the mosquito population that transmits dengue fever, with the hope of preventing further cases within the community,” Sya’bani stated on Friday, March 20, 2026.

The increase in dengue fever cases highlights the ongoing public health challenges posed by mosquito-borne diseases in tropical regions. Effective mosquito control and community awareness are crucial for mitigating the spread of dengue and protecting public health.
