The 2025 World Table Tennis (WTT) Finals began in Hong Kong, China on December 10th, and South Korea’s Ju Cheon-hui saw her run in the women’s singles competition end in the quarterfinal round with a 4-1 loss to China’s Wang Manyu.
Ju started strong in the first game, battling back from a 5-1 deficit to close within a point at 5-4. However, unforced errors on her forehand cost her momentum, and Wang ultimately took the first game 11-7.
The second game saw Ju come out firing, winning four consecutive points to take an early 4-0 lead. She extended that advantage to 8-3, but Wang responded with a remarkable seven-point run to seize control. Wang closed out the game 11-8, capitalizing on a late opportunity to go up 2-0 in the match.
Facing a crucial game, Ju fell behind 4-0 in the third, but she quickly turned the tide with a five-point surge of her own, leveling the score at 5-5. She continued to push, eventually earning a game point and converting it to win 11-9 and bring the score to 2-1.
Ju maintained her momentum, earning another game point and securing the win to make it 1-2 in the match.
