Kacper Tomasiak suffered a scary fall during Sunday’s ski jumping event, but initial medical evaluations have been positive, officials confirmed. The Polish jumper landed at 192 meters but lost his balance upon landing, colliding with the outrun. He was unable to ski off the hill under his own power and required a lengthy assessment from medical personnel.
Kacper Merk of Eurosport reported that the young Polish athlete was conscious. Dominik Formela from skijumping.pl subsequently confirmed those reports. Shortly after, Michał Korościel on Eurosport added that Tomasiak was undergoing further examination. Igor Błachut, providing commentary, then announced that a hospital visit was not deemed necessary.
“First medical examinations of Kacper Tomasiak are positive,” FIS communicated in an official statement posted on X.
Sandro Pertile, the World Cup Director, announced that Tomasiak remained with medical staff but that, his condition was stable. “Nothing serious happened,” Pertile said, as quoted by Formela. “Kacper Tomasiak is doing well,” a subsequent FIS statement added.
Polish Ski Association Updates Tomasiak’s Condition: “Under Observation”
Team leader Wojciech Jurowicz revealed that Tomasiak impacted his head on the outrun and was initially disoriented. “However, he is conscious, communicating, and initial medical checks on the hill showed no alarming signs. Kacper remains under observation by the team,” the Polish Ski Association stated.
Qualifying was ultimately canceled after several jumpers completed their attempts, due to strong and unpredictable wind conditions. The first round of competition is now scheduled for 5:15 PM local time. Live coverage will be available on Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
