Jakub Kaminski is making a strong case for a permanent move to FC Köln after a successful loan spell from Wolfsburg. The Polish international has been a key contributor for the Billy Goats, scoring three goals in his first five Bundesliga appearances this season. While he experienced a mid-season scoring drought, Kaminski has recently rediscovered his form, providing a crucial assist in a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim and netting a goal against Borussia Dortmund, despite a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Kamiński delivers assist in a “Polish” clash

Kaminski showcased his revitalized form on Saturday, directly contributing to a goal in a Bundesliga match. The score was level at 1-1 as early as the fourth minute, and just three minutes later, Kaminski’s assist put the hosts ahead. The Polish player received a quality pass on the right wing and quickly played a first-time ball into the box to Ragnar Ache, who finished from close range.

This was Kaminski’s second assist of the Bundesliga campaign, adding to his impressive tally of six goals. FC Köln was tied 2-2 at halftime in their match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Saturday’s match between Köln and Mönchengladbach was notable for featuring two head coaches with strong ties to Poland. This fixture carried significant weight in the battle to avoid relegation.

“Saturday’s Rhine derby was not only an event for the entire region and an important match in the fight for staying in the Bundesliga, but also a special clash of coaches born in the Silesian Voivodeship,” Michał Trela of Sport.pl wrote. “Both Lukas Kwasniok, from Gliwice, and Eugen Polanski, from Sosnowiec, are on hot seats. For the former Polish international, whose first independent job this is, the developments in Borussia Mönchengladbach could be crucial for his career.”
