Kaolack police have arrested three individuals in connection with a series of burglaries and receiving stolen property at the Kaolack Commercial Center. The arrests, which included the suspected ringleader and two alleged accomplices, arrive as authorities continue to address property crime in the region.
The investigation began after security guards at a local business detained a man near the commercial center on March 8, 2026, according to reports. The man was carrying two sewing machines and approximately 20 pieces of fabric and attempted to flee before being apprehended by law enforcement.
During questioning, the suspect confessed to burglarizing a tailoring workshop located within the market. Police determined the individual is a repeat offender, with multiple complaints filed against him since December 2025 for similar incidents, including the theft of five sewing machines and around 100 pieces of fabric.
Further investigation led officers to identify and arrest two individuals in Touba and Mbacké accused of receiving stolen goods. One of the individuals admitted to purchasing a stolen sewing machine for 65,000 CFA francs. The other suspect, despite initial denials, was found in possession of a sewing machine that was seized as evidence.
All three individuals are currently in custody as the investigation continues to determine the full extent of the network and identify any additional accomplices. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the Kaolack Central Police Station to combat criminal activity within the municipality, as demonstrated by a similar operation that dismantled a gang of criminals in December 2025.
