Allerede klokka 01.06 bekreftet operasjonsleder Dag Steinkopf i Sør-Vest politidistrikt at situasjonen hadde eskalert.

At 1:39 a.m., firefighters reported gaining control of the flames, and the risk of further spread was considered low.

Gass i bygget

Fire crews worked at the scene with significant resources from Raglamyr, Kopervik, and Åkra fire stations.

– Their focus is to prevent the fire from spreading to areas of the industrial building where larger quantities of gas are stored, said police incident commander Ole Berner Iversen to freelance photographer Jostein Viestad shortly after 2:30 a.m.

According to police, no one was inside the building or the vehicles when the fire broke out.

Police have taken witness statements at the scene and have opened an investigation, Iversen said, adding:

There is no information at this time to suggest anyone was in the building or any of the RVs. We have no information at this time to indicate that is the case.

The fire caused significant damage.

– The building sustained major damage, and several vehicles outside the building were damaged, the operations leader stated.

Fire Reignited

At 3:22 a.m., Steinkopf reported the fire had flared up again, with a renewed risk of spreading to a nearby building.

Nearly two hours later, at 5:15 a.m., crews had transitioned to extinguishing remaining hotspots.

– The building was used as an RV repair shop, and several vehicles were inside. Both the building and the vehicles are a total loss. The fire department will likely be on scene for some time, and we are still present as well, the operations leader said at 6:20 a.m.

Police have no indication of how the fire started and will investigate the cause.
