President Karol Nawrocki faced a chorus of boos during Sunday’s Ekstraklasa match between Górnik Zabrze and Raków Częstochowa, according to multiple reports.

The Polish president attended the match, which Górnik Zabrze won 3-1, but was met with audible disapproval from sections of the crowd when his presence was announced. “Dziennik Zachodni” initially reported the reaction and WP SportoweFakty confirmed the incident, noting that fans in some areas of the stadium largely ignored the announcement although others responded with jeers.

Nawrocki, a known supporter of Lechia Gdańsk, was accompanied by Romanian politician George Simion. This visit came after a presidential campaign in 2025 where many fans openly expressed support for Nawrocki and disapproval of his rival, Rafał Trzaskowski. Despite his established fanbase, the reception in Zabrze was decidedly cool.

On the pitch, Górnik Zabrze’s victory over Raków Częstochowa was a significant result in the PKO Ekstraklasa standings, lifting them into the top four. Przegląd Sportowy detailed the atmosphere, while sport.interia.pl highlighted that the president “heard everything.” Eurosport Polska too reported on the match, noting Raków’s recent struggles.
