Argentine band Ke Personajes closed out a tense night at the Viña Festival on February 26, 2026, winning over a disgruntled crowd after a rocky transition from the previous performer. The group’s energetic cumbia performance ultimately soothed the audience, known as “El Monstruo,” after comedian Asskha Sumatra abruptly exited the stage following her set, without a traditional farewell.

The audience’s boos continued during the international competition segment, creating a challenging atmosphere for Ke Personajes. However, the band quickly took control of the situation, launching into their set and captivating the crowd with their music and danceable rhythms. The performance showcased the band’s experience with televised festivals, having previously played the Festival del Huaso de Olmué in 2025.

The band played a string of hits, including Piel, a medley of Fue ella, fui yo and Ya no siento nada, and Otro día más. They also offered a unique rendition of Evanescence’s emo-rock anthem My Immortal, showcasing lead singer Emmanuel Noir’s vocal range. Despite some lingering boos during the awards presentation, Ke Personajes remained focused on their performance.

An emotional Noir framed the win as a victory over critics. “Los sueños se hacen realidad ¿ok?” he said, holding the coveted “Gaviota” trophy. “And here’s the proof,” he added, kissing the award and looking to the sky, dedicating it to “those who wanted us to fail.”

As they performed their hit Costumbres, originally popularized with Damas Gratis, some audience members began to leave, while others continued to dance in the general admission area and the VIP boxes. The night concluded with Pobre corazón, a reminder that, as the saying goes, dancing can heal all wounds – even after a tense evening. The Viña Festival continues to be a key platform for Latin American artists to reach a broad audience.
