“The blood of the martyrs will not be in vain and will turn into great anger in the future,” said Qais Khazali, leader of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, describing the attack as “treacherous.”

The airstrike occurred late Sunday night, March 15, 2026, targeting a residence in Baghdad’s Arasat neighborhood believed to be owned by al-Amiri. The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region and raises concerns about potential retaliatory actions.

Following the strike, the area surrounding the house was cordoned off by intelligence forces from the Popular Mobilization Forces, as well as Iraqi police and army units. Those injured in the attack were transported to hospitals by ambulance.

Kataib Hezbollah held a funeral procession in Baghdad for three of its members who were also killed in the strike. The group’s response to the commander’s death remains to be seen, but Khazali’s statement suggests a strong reaction is anticipated.
