KGM, formerly SsangYong, is expanding its lineup with a modern hybrid powertrain designed to deliver significant fuel efficiency without a premium price tag. Currently available in the Torres and Actyon models, the new system demonstrates real-world fuel savings, according to initial testing.
The new DTH (Dual-Tech Hybrid) powertrain builds upon a familiar 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, but adds an electric component to achieve a combined output of 204 horsepower and 300 Newton-meters of torque. The electric motor, capable of 130 kW on its own, serves as the primary drive source, providing a driving experience reminiscent of an electric vehicle with its quiet operation and responsive acceleration.

The Torres hybrid delivers impressive fuel economy.
Unlike fully electric vehicles, this hybrid system doesn’t require charging cables and eliminates range anxiety. The system generates its own energy through regenerative braking and utilizes a 50-liter fuel tank. The Torres, for example, boasts a combined fuel consumption of 5.85 liters per 100 kilometers (2.6 liters more efficient than the standard gasoline version), a figure that closely aligns with real-world testing.
During testing, the hybrid powertrain achieved 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers in city and rural driving conditions, and 7 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.

The Actyon model comes standard with a generous array of features.
The upgrade to the hybrid powertrain is surprisingly affordable, with KGM adding a surcharge of 52,900 Czech Koruna (approximately $2,300 USD) for the Torres and 60,000 Czech Koruna (approximately $2,600 USD) for the Actyon. So the Torres with the hybrid system starts at 755,700 Czech Koruna (approximately $33,000 USD), while the hybrid Actyon begins at 919,900 Czech Koruna (approximately $40,000 USD).
Even the base Torres trim includes features like 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a six-speaker audio system. The Actyon offers even more standard equipment, including 20-inch wheels, leather and heated front seats (with ventilation), tinted windows, and adaptive cruise control.
All models come with a standard factory warranty of 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, and a separate warranty covering the hybrid system’s battery for 8 years or 160,000 kilometers.
