A rather awkward situation unfolded during a recent taxi ride for Kiara Lord.
Kiara Lord has often spoken about her love for durian, a fruit many find unpalatable due to its strong smell and texture. The content creator shared her passion for the Southeast Asian fruit with Pachert Balázs although appearing as a guest on the YouTube show Sneaker Tour. Balázs inquired whether she truly enjoyed durian as much as she claimed.
“I’m addicted, it’s the perfect fruit. It’s juicy, sweet. I feel like it gives me superpowers. It has a potent smell, I won’t deny that, but I find it a pleasant scent. I would compare it to a mixture of caramelized onion, honeydew melon, and sparkling cream. It’s heavenly to me. When I go to the Józsefvárosi market, I look for it because it’s not always available, so I have to sniff it out,” Lord told Pachert. She also revealed that the best gift anyone could give her is durian, having received two large durians under the Christmas tree last year. However, the fruit comes with a slightly embarrassing story.
As it turns out, Lord doesn’t have a driver’s license and relies almost entirely on taxis – she last took the subway last summer, a decision she regrets – including for trips to acquire her beloved fruit. She emphasized the importance of her partner having a license and a car.
“It’s a bit tricky to transport durian in a taxi. It’s okay if my partner’s car smells like durian. Last time, I thought I had it well-packaged, and the taxi driver turned around and asked: ‘Do you smell that gas leak?’ I told him it wasn’t gas, it was a fruit. And he asked, ‘What kind of fruit?!’ I told him, why, the king of fruits, durian. Then he knew what I was talking about.”
She added that she hurried to the market to buy her favorite exotic fruit immediately after the filming.
