Belgian Singer Koen Wauters Involved in Rally Crash, Escapes Uninjured

Belgian singer and television presenter Koen Wauters was involved in a crash during the Short Rally of Moorslede on Sunday, March 22, 2026, but escaped without injury, according to reports. His co-pilot was also unharmed.

The incident occurred Sunday morning during the rally in Zandvoorde (Zonnebeke), West Flanders. Video of the crash has been circulating online, as reported by De Krantenkoppen.

Wauters, 58, is a known racing enthusiast and participated in the rally alongside his co-pilot. The Short Rally of Moorslede kicked off the regional rally season, also featuring drivers Vincent Verschueren and Steven Dolfen, Rally and Races noted.

The rally saw several other incidents on Sunday, March 22, 2026, including retirements from Lavaert, Castelein, and others due to mechanical issues and crashes, according to Rallylovers.be’s live updates. Xenia Dumortier also experienced mechanical issues, and Olav Degrave suffered a broken driveshaft.

Wauters previously participated in the Ardeca Ypres Rally last season and had planned to compete in approximately four rallies in West Flanders this year with a Skoda Fabia Rally 2, as Rally and Races detailed. This latest incident comes after Wauters’ participation in the Dakar rally in 2022, documented in the show ‘Wauters in de Woestijn.’

The crash adds another layer to Wauters’ growing profile as a multi-talented entertainer, demonstrating his passion for motorsports alongside his established career in music and television.
