Stylist Roos Reedijk Reveals a First for ‘Kopen Zonder Kijken’
The upcoming season of the popular Dutch home renovation show, “Kopen Zonder Kijken” (Buying Without Looking), will feature a unique request from a couple looking to downsize, stylist Roos Reedijk revealed. Instead of searching for a larger home, the couple sought a smaller one now that their children have moved out, according to reports.
“A couple wanted to live smaller because the children have left home. That’s how we keep innovating,” Reedijk said in an interview with Veronica Superguide. The show, now in its eighth season, has faced the challenge of remaining fresh whereas navigating a competitive housing market.
The new season will also delve deeper into the personal stories of the families featured on the show, including a blended family with five children. However, Reedijk emphasized that the show won’t intentionally seek out overly emotional narratives. “It shouldn’t become emo-TV,” she explained.
The production has also been navigating the absence of presenter Martijn Krabbé, who is battling illness. Reedijk spoke about missing her colleague, noting his ability to balance humor and emotion in the show. She described Krabbé’s contribution as irreplaceable, and acknowledged the void his absence has created.
Krabbé is still featured in the early episodes of the current eighth season, with footage recorded before his diagnosis, and continues to provide voiceovers. The show’s team is also dealing with logistical challenges, with Reedijk noting that these issues can quickly lead to panic. She recently discussed these difficulties with RTL.nl.
Beyond “Kopen Zonder Kijken,” Reedijk is also working on a pilot for a new program, which she hinted will be filmed on location. The show’s success has made it a staple of Dutch television, and its continued evolution suggests it will remain a popular choice for viewers. Reedijk emphasized that the desires of the participants always guide the design process.
