Emotional Exit: Saulkrasti Pearls Choir Bids Farewell to ‘Koru Kari’
The competition is reaching a fever pitch on TV3’s hit musical series Koru Kari, but the journey has come to a sudden and emotional halt for one of its most versatile ensembles. In a move that left both the performers and fans reeling, the departure of the Saulkrasti Pearls Choir and conductor Asnate Rancāne has officially been confirmed.
The elimination took place during the fifth live broadcast, where the group faced a panel of industry heavyweights. The choir’s performance was evaluated by experts Jānis Ozols and Edgars Vītols, alongside stage legend and longtime supporter of the show, singer Olga Rajecka. Despite the group’s technical skill, the judges’ decision ultimately saw them exit the competition, marking the moment another choir left the show.
The exit was an unexpected blow to the ensemble. In an interview where Asnate Rancāne discussed the exit, she admitted the shock of the decision, stating, “We weren’t ready to be eliminated.”
This emotional departure follows a high-stakes journey for the choir. Rancāne had previously shared the intensity of their preparation for the fifth season, revealing that the process was so moving that “tears ran into my eyes” as they geared up for the competition. The Saulkrasti Pearls were noted for their impressive vocal range, boasting a diverse array of timbres that allowed them to hit everything from the deepest bass notes to the highest registers.
Whereas the Pearls exit the stage, the battle for choral supremacy continues. The Preiļi Purple Choir continues its fight for the title, maintaining their momentum in the competition. The show has now transitioned into the sixth concert, which focused on radio hits, promising more high-energy performances as the field of competitors narrows.
