Latvian band “Labvēlīgais tips” (Favorable Type) has released a summery reggae-infused single, “Mākoņi pūkaiņi” (Fluffy Clouds), featuring vocal group “Framest.” A music video accompanies the track.
The melody for the fresh song, “Mākoņi pūkaiņi,” was composed by Artūrs Kutepovs, guitarist for “Labvēlīgais tips” and a hit songwriter, while the lyrics were penned by Andris Freidenfelds, also known as Fredis. Lotars Lodziņš and Jānis Kalve of “Labo ierakstu studijas” (Good Recording Studio) handled the recording and production.
The collaboration between “Labvēlīgais tips” and the highly professional vocal ensemble “Framest” wasn’t accidental – despite its gently embracing name, “Mākoņi pūkaiņi” is arguably the most thoughtful and laid-back track in the group’s creative journey. The song also took approximately a year to complete.
“We are like clouds,” explains Fredis, vocalist for “Labvēlīgais tips.” “We are born, live quickly, disappear, transform, and are reborn. We invent our heroes, worship our kings, and want to become them ourselves. In today’s informationally emotional space, a dense, difficult-to-see fog has formed. We wander in it and ask two essential questions: the passively conciliatory ‘but what about me?’ and the aggressively demanding ‘but what about me?’ Sometimes a third question also appears: ‘What is this mysterious DNA?’”
Elvis Lācis directed the music video, having previously worked with several well-known Latvian musicians, including “Very Cool People,” “Citiem zēniem” (For Other Boys), the rap duo “Olas” (Eggs), the always intoxicating group “Singapūras satīns” (Singapore Satin), and Mika Galvanovski, among others.
Fans can expect more new music from “Labvēlīgais tips” on April 1st.
The release comes as Latvian music continues to gain international attention, with artists exploring diverse genres and collaborative projects. The introspective lyrics and mellow vibe of “Mākoņi pūkaiņi” offer a unique sound for the spring season.
