The figures, released by the State Employment Agency (NVA), offer a snapshot of the country’s economic conditions as it navigates ongoing global economic trends.

The NVA data indicates that 45,761 people were registered as unemployed at the end of February 2026, a marginal rise from the 45,729 recorded in January. This translates to a national unemployment rate of 5.2%, consistent with the previous month’s figure.

Regional disparities persist, with Riga demonstrating the lowest unemployment rate at 3.8%, a slight improvement from January. The consistent unemployment rate suggests a degree of resilience in the Latvian economy, though regional variations highlight the need for targeted support and development initiatives.
