Latvia’s women’s basketball team will face Estonia tonight at 7:00 PM local time, with live coverage on LTV7.
Last week, Latvia secured a dominant 79-53 victory at home against Slovenia and followed it up with a 73-64 win on the road against the Netherlands. Estonia, although, suffered losses in their recent away games, falling to the Netherlands 87-77 and Slovenia 84-54.
For the matchup against Estonia, Latvia will see some changes to their lineup compared to their last game against the Netherlands. Katrīna Ozola and debutante Madara Šmite will take the places of Ieva Pulvere and Anna Liepiņa.
In November, Latvia began their qualifying campaign with an impressive 89-47 win over Estonia and an 89-62 victory against the Netherlands, though they did fall to Slovenia 77-66.
After five games in Group B, Latvia holds a record of four wins, while Slovenia and the Netherlands each have three. Estonia has faced five defeats. Latvia has already secured their place in the second round of qualification.
Latvia will be without Anete Šteinberga for these games, with Kate Vilka assuming the role of captain.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the second qualifying round, along with three of the seven best third-place finishers.
