Lee Jung-hoo Snaps Slump, But Giants Fall to Phillies in 6-4 Loss

The San Francisco Giants continued their early-season struggle on April 7, 2026, falling 6-4 to the Philadelphia Phillies at Oracle Park. Despite a late-game spark from Lee Jung-hoo, who broke a frustrating hitless streak, the Giants suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, leaving them at the bottom of the National League West with a 3-8 record.

Lee, starting in right field and batting sixth, finished the day 1-for-4. After struggling through the first half of the game—including a flyout to left in the second and a 4-6-3 double play in the third—Lee finally found his rhythm in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Phillies reliever Brad Keller with two outs and the Giants trailing 6-4, Lee lined a single to center field. Whereas the hit did not lead to a rally, it provided a critical boost to his season batting average, which rose from .152 to .162 (6 hits in 37 at-bats) after a difficult stretch where he had recorded only one hit in five games during April.

The Giants initially held the upper hand, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Matt Chapman was a bright spot for San Francisco, delivering an RBI triple and finishing the game with two hits and two RBIs. However, the lead vanished in the top of the seventh when the Philadelphia offense exploded for four runs, fueled by four hits and three walks to take a 6-4 lead.

On the mound, San Francisco starter Adrian Hauser pitched six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks. The loss was charged to Ryan Borucki, who surrendered two runs in just a third of an inning.

Philadelphia’s victory was powered by Bryce Harper, who dominated the contest with three hits and three RBIs, including two doubles. While Phillies starter Andrew Painter struggled early, giving up four runs over four innings, the Philadelphia bullpen locked down the game, pitching five scoreless innings to secure the win and improve their record to 6-4.
