LEGO Super Mario Minifigs Finally Coming in 2027

LEGO and Nintendo revealed another surprise for MAR10 Day, beyond the recently announced, but anticipated, LEGO Luigi Mario Kart set. The Danish toy company has announced new LEGO Mario sets are slated for release in 2027.

But, the biggest surprise is that LEGO is finally creating Super Mario minifigures, a feature fans of both LEGO and the Super Mario franchise have requested for years, moving away from the interactive LEGO Mario line first launched in 2020. This shift represents a significant evolution in how LEGO approaches its Nintendo collaborations, offering collectors a more traditional building experience.

Developing a LEGO minifigure that accurately represents Mario while maintaining the established LEGO scale and proportions has likely been a complex undertaking. Numerous unofficial versions from other manufacturers have attempted this in the past, often with unsatisfactory results.

LEGO minifigures are already available for characters from other popular franchises, including Link and Zelda, Tom Nook and Isabelle from Animal Crossing, and even Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, Super Mario and his supporting cast of characters and adversaries will also be joining the LEGO minifigure lineup in the new sets launching in 2027. The company unveiled the first look at the LEGO Mario minifigure, which features a specially designed head, including a nose and mustache attached to a rounded head, maintaining consistency with the scale of other LEGO minifigs.
