The RMS Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York on the night of April 15, 1912. The massive ship was touted as “unsinkable,” and anticipation for the journey was high.

Approximately 1,800 people were aboard the ship, despite a maximum capacity of 2,435 passengers. Between 1,300 and 1,500 passengers lost their lives during that maiden voyage.

The Titanic struck an iceberg in the middle of the night and subsequently sank. The event was a tragedy of immense proportions, and the story was immortalized in a 1997 film adaptation.

Leonardo DiCaprio (51) and Kate Winslet (50) starred in the epic film “Titanic,” portraying the fictional characters Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater. The film launched both actors to international stardom and remains a cultural touchstone.

A Cinematic Landmark

Audiences weren’t just shown the harrowing scenes as the ship went down – they were also captivated by the love story between Jack and Rose.

Jack, a young man from humble beginnings, and Rose – a wealthy woman disillusioned with her own circumstances – quickly became an iconic couple.

“Titanic” won numerous awards, including Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director. The film is considered a classic and, for many, a must-see.

However, it turns out that isn’t the case for DiCaprio himself.

Recently, he appeared on Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” where two prominent actors interview each other about their work.

“You Should”

DiCaprio’s conversation was with Jennifer Lawrence (35), with whom he starred in the Netflix film “Don’t Look Up.”

During the conversation, the actors discuss each other’s careers, and Lawrence asks DiCaprio if he’s rewatched “Titanic.”

“No. I’ve never seen it since,” he says, likely referring to the film’s premiere.

“Oh, you should. I’m sure you could watch it now, it’s so good,” Lawrence responds.

The 51-year-old actor then explains that he doesn’t typically watch his own films, and wonders if she does.

“No, but I’ve never made anything like ‘Titanic.’ If I had, I would have seen it,” Lawrence replies.
