Despite recent setbacks against Ludogorets, Levski remains a contender in the Bulgarian First League, according to Neďalko Moskov, president of OFK Nessebar. Moskov closely follows all levels of Bulgarian football and believes the team should not be counted out.
“I have a detailed understanding of Levski, as I observed them during their training camp in Belek,” Moskov stated. “I can confidently say I’m very familiar with the entire First League. A coach from Nessebar is currently interning with Velasques.”
Moskov noted a quick dismissal of Levski’s chances following the two losses to Ludogorets, but believes they largely outplayed their rivals, particularly in Razgrad. “The difference comes down to budgets – Ludogorets offers salaries that Levski simply can’t afford,” he explained. “But they are still seven points ahead of the champions. Imagine if Levski had that kind of budget; Velasques would already be 20 points clear!”
Moskov praised the squads of both Levski and CSKA, adding, “CSKA could even make Levski champions as unlikely as that sounds.” He also acknowledged Ludogorets’ recent improvements, even as noting that Cherno More has fallen behind compared to their performance in the fall season. He expressed hope for improved pitch conditions as the weather improves, allowing teams to fully showcase their potential.
“At the bottom of the table, things are also very interesting, as Dobrudzha appointed Yassen Petrov and you could immediately see what a class act he is,” Moskov continued. “I think he can save them, even though many had written them off after the fall. But returning to Levski – Velasques is the best coach in the First League. Levski and Ludogorets will battle for the title, and CSKA and CSKA 1948 will also be in contention for a European spot,” Moskov told Gol.bg on February 14, 2026.
