Lisandro Martinez’s injury struggles have been ongoing, and the Manchester United defender reportedly considered retirement at one point.
Martinez has been sidelined for nearly ten months, but manager Erik ten Hag revealed the Argentinian center-back is now ready to rejoin the squad and could be included in the matchday lineup for Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Everton.
“Lisandro is now approaching match fitness,” Ten Hag said. “Of course, the first game back needs to be carefully considered. He is a smart player and can play in multiple positions, and if necessary, we can even deploy him as a defensive midfielder.”
The 25-year-old has been working to regain his fitness, even training with the Argentinian national team recently. Midfielder Christian Eriksen has also recovered from injury and is available for selection.
However, United will still be without center-back Harry Maguire and forward Rasmus Højlund due to injury.
