Lidl has expanded its commitment to locally sourced products with the introduction of a modern line of pre-packaged salads, “SuShef,” produced in partnership with Latvian manufacturer Gaļas Nams – Ādaži. This marks the first time locally-made salads have been offered on Lidl’s shelves in Latvia, reflecting a growing consumer demand for regional products.
The “SuShef” range includes seven varieties: potato salad (rasols), bean salad with chicken, bean salad with smoked meat, crab stick salad, cheese and carrot salad, cheese and garlic salad, and beetroot and garlic salad.
“We are pleased to collaborate with local producers, even as simultaneously offering our customers their favorite and authentic flavors,” said Alexis Latorre Garcia, Member of the Board and Head of the Purchasing Department at Lidl Latvia. “Salads are an integral part of Latvian cuisine both daily and on festive occasions, so we carefully sought a producer who could provide authentic, home-style quality. We are already seeing strong customer interest in the first few weeks since launching these salads.”

Previously, Lidl’s salad offerings primarily consisted of products from other European countries. The partnership with Gaļas Nams – Ādaži as well extends to export opportunities, with the “SuShef” line now available in Lidl stores across the Baltic states. “We are delighted that Gaļas Nams – Ādaži is our reliable partner,” Garcia added. “The company’s experience and expertise allow it to create products with consistently excellent taste, which is appreciated by Latvian residents. The manufacturer also has the opportunity to export salads to the Lidl network throughout the Baltic countries.”
“We created the ‘SuShef’ ready-meal product line based on the daily eating habits and taste preferences of local consumers,” explained Jurijs Skribis, Member of the Board and founder of the “SuShef” brand at Gaļas Nams – Ādaži. “The range is based on familiar recipes and a consistent focus on quality, with particular attention paid to ensuring that locally sourced ingredients dominate the raw materials used. We are pleased that Lidl is offering a salad line produced in Latvia to its customers and highly value the opportunity to develop the ready-meal segment on a Baltic scale, which helps people save time while providing a balanced, tasty meal in a convenient, ready-to-use format. ‘SuShef’ is created as a practical solution for everyday life – with a delicious and varied choice for every day.”

The new “SuShef” line features recipes crafted from carefully selected local ingredients, ensuring both quality and the flavors familiar to Latvian consumers. Gaļas Nams – Ādaži was among the first local producers to collaborate with Lidl upon its entry into the Latvian market. In addition to the new “SuShef” salads, Lidl also offers the company’s meat products on a daily basis, both within its private label range and through periodic promotions.
Gaļas Nams – Ādaži, in collaboration with Lidl, plans to continue developing the culinary product segment, with plans to expand the range to include soups and second-course meals in the near future. Lidl currently collaborates with approximately 80 local producers, a number that continues to grow annually, alongside an increasing assortment of private label products made in Latvia.
