Norwegian ski jumper Marius Lindvik struggled with his landing and finished last in qualifying for Saturday’s World Cup event in Holmenkollen.
Lindvik clearly showed his frustration after landing at just 96.5 meters. He lost control mid-air, struggling to regain his position.
“He really gets the skis crossed. It’s very uncomfortable,” said TV 2 expert Robert Johansson.
Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal jumped 122.5 meters and sympathized with his teammate.
“It’s a shame that we invite the rest of the world here, and then we jump when we shouldn’t be jumping. Lindvik landed safely, but it was close. It ruins his weekend here, and that’s hopeless,” Sundal told TV 2.
“It’s perhaps defensible, but it’s not worth it,” he added about the conditions.
Lindvik jumped after Johann André Forfang. The Tromsø native also had to produce adjustments mid-flight, but managed a jump of 119 meters, enough to qualify.
“If they (the jury) could do it again, they probably wouldn’t have sent us down. They absolutely shouldn’t send athletes down in those conditions. Luckily for the jury, Marius landed on his feet, but it was damn close,” Forfang said.
“I shouldn’t have jumped in the conditions I jumped in.”
