A widespread arctic airmass continues to grip much of the United States, bringing dangerously cold temperatures and additional snowfall this week. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories and watches across multiple states, urging residents to prepare for hazardous travel conditions and extreme cold [[1]]. This report details a five-day forecast outlining expected snowfall, blowing snow, and sub-zero temperatures in affected regions.

Parts of the country will see snowfall Wednesday, particularly in the southwestern regions, with potential for blowing snow in some areas.

Winds will be out of the southeast at 8–13 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph along the coast. Temperatures will range from 8–13 degrees Fahrenheit, though some western areas could see temperatures dip to 4–7 degrees below zero.

Snowfall is expected in many areas Wednesday night, accompanied by blowing snow. Conditions will shift to scattered light precipitation during the day Thursday. Winds will remain out of the southeast and south, at 8–13 mph overnight, with coastal gusts reaching 16 mph, then decreasing to 6–11 mph during the day.

Overnight lows Thursday will be 7–12 degrees Fahrenheit, potentially dropping to 17 degrees below zero in eastern regions. Daytime highs will be 4–9 degrees Fahrenheit, with eastern areas possibly reaching 13 degrees below zero, and coastal areas experiencing temperatures between 0–3 degrees below zero.

Friday is forecast to be largely without significant precipitation. Winds will be out of the southeast at 6–11 mph. Overnight lows will be 7–12 degrees Fahrenheit, with eastern regions potentially reaching 13–18 degrees below zero. Daytime highs will be 4–9 degrees Fahrenheit, with eastern areas up to 13 degrees below zero.

Snow is not anticipated Saturday. Winds will be out of the southeast at 6–11 mph, with coastal gusts up to 14 mph. Overnight lows will be 13–18 degrees Fahrenheit, and daytime highs will be 7–12 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sunday will also remain snow-free. Winds will be out of the southeast and south at 6–11 mph. Overnight lows will be 10–15 degrees Fahrenheit, with some areas dropping to 17 degrees below zero, and daytime highs will be 6–11 degrees Fahrenheit.

Current forecasts indicate similar weather patterns will persist at the start of next week.
