Logitech has introduced a new addition to its racing wheel lineup with the RS H-Shifter, a fully manual H-pattern shifter designed to meet the demands of sim racing enthusiasts. The release comes as the sim racing world experiences significant growth and anticipates new hardware and game offerings.
The Logitech G RS H-Shifter features a seven-speed gearbox plus reverse, mimicking the experience of a real-world vehicle. A push-through lock-out feature prevents accidental engagement of reverse gear, protecting the virtual gearbox. The shifter operates using a traditional “double-H” pattern, with the seventh gear accessed by pushing right from the sixth position, and reverse located as a vertical fourth slot.
Beyond its realistic simulation capabilities, Logitech emphasizes the shifter’s “tactile mechanical feel” with a clicky operation. Hall Effect sensors are implemented to ensure long-term reliability, durability, and precision – addressing concerns raised with previous G-series shifter designs. The shifter also offers easy customization and supports both desk mounting with included clamps and attachment to a racing rig using included bolts.
The RS H-Shifter is designed for broad compatibility across gaming platforms and titles, supporting a wide range of arcade, simcade, and sim racing games on Windows PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. PC users can connect directly via USB, through the RS50/Pro Wheel, or via an adapter with the G29, G920, and G923 wheels. Console connectivity is also supported without a direct USB connection.
Logitech notes that some games may not fully support a seventh gear or H-pattern shifter if the original vehicle doesn’t feature them. For example, Gran Turismo 7 does not allow H-pattern shifters in online modes. Compatibility may also vary for semi-automatic cars depending on the game. The company suggests the shifter will be particularly well-suited for upcoming titles like Forza Horizon 6 and its classic vehicles, but a full assessment will come after thorough testing.
The Logitech G RS H-Shifter is available now with a recommended retail price of 159.99 euro.
