The Story of «Ewigi Liebi»
“Ewigi Liebi” tells the story of Daneli and Heidi, former lovers who unexpectedly get a second chance at happiness when they’re given the opportunity to travel back in time thirty years after their separation.
Susanne Kunz, 46, will portray the older Heidi, while singer and actress Elena Flury, 27, will play the younger version. Pasquale Aleardi, 54, will take on the role of the adult Daneli, with Luca Hänni, 31, stepping into the shoes of the character in his 90s youth. The film’s romantic premise and time-travel element are sure to appeal to a broad audience.
Filming for “Ewigi Liebi” took place in the Emmental region and in Zurich. In August, a 20 Minuten crew visited the cast on set in Zurich’s Kaufleuten district. “Today is my last day of shooting, which makes me very sad,” Hänni said at the time. “I’ve gotten so used to it, everyone is so nice, and we all get along great.”

Pasquale Aleardi Was Unfamiliar With the Musical
“Ewigi Liebi” has been brought back to life under the direction of Pierre Monnard. The film aims to present “a modern version of the musical.” “It’s a family film, but also a romantic comedy. The time travel to the golden 90s should particularly appeal to viewers,” the filmmaker said. This charm also resonated with Susanne Kunz, who shared during filming: “It catapulted me back to my youth – it was very nostalgic.”
Leading man Pasquale Aleardi was familiar with the 90s, but not with the musical – he had never seen it before. “The only song I knew was ‹Bring En Hei› – thanks to the Euros.” His wife then taught him how famous songs like “Ewigi Liebi” are. “That increased the pressure even more,” Aleardi admitted. “Performing the songs was a big challenge. But the biggest challenge was the Bernese dialect.”
“Ewigi Liebi – The Film” will be released in German-speaking Swiss cinemas on February 12, 2026.
