Hungarian police have launched an investigation into possible drug possession related to a private party held in a Budapest Airbnb on August 2, according to reports. The party was attended by Péter Magyar, a prominent political figure.

The investigation comes after a photograph surfaced online, appearing to present the interior of the apartment. Magyar previously addressed the circumstances surrounding the image, stating that he arrived at the location around 5 a.m. Following an event. He said the apartment was occupied by individuals he did not know and that Radnai Márk was not present.

Magyar stated that he observed what appeared to be alcohol and drugs on a table, but did not touch them. He and his former girlfriend, Evelin Vogel, later entered a room and engaged in consensual sexual activity. The pair left the property and had lunch together later that day.

The potential criminal activity stems from the presence of a white powder visible on a nightstand next to the bed in the photograph, as well as Magyar’s statement that a substance resembling drugs was on the table.

The mysterious website, radnaimark.hu, first appeared on February 10. The site initially displayed only a single black-and-white image, seemingly captured by a hidden camera. The website initially displayed the message “coming soon,” which was later changed to “once upon a time…” along with the date August 3, 2024. Following the release of a video by Magyar, a quote from him – “There was alcohol and a substance that looked like drugs on the table. I didn’t touch anything on the table…” – was added to the site, accompanied by the question, “Sure?” Domain registration data shows the radnaimark.hu domain was purchased by a private individual on December 30, 2024.

The room depicted in the photograph closely resembles a room in a hotel on Nagykörút, a major thoroughfare in Budapest. After identifying the location, investigators contacted Radnai Márk, who told reporters he had never been to the apartment.

The case highlights the intense scrutiny surrounding Magyar, a rising figure in Hungarian politics.
