Kamil Majchrzak’s run at the Miami Open came to an end on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, as he fell to Quentin Halys in straight sets. The Polish player was aiming for his best result at the Masters 1000 level, but Halys proved too strong, winning 7-6(4), 6-1.

This was only Majchrzak’s second appearance in the main draw of the Miami Open, and a third-round showing would have matched his best result at a Masters 1000 event, previously achieved in Shanghai last season. A win on Tuesday would have marked his first fourth-round appearance at this level of competition.

Halys, currently ranked outside the top 100, presented a favorable matchup for Majchrzak, who was looking to break into the top 50 in the world rankings with a victory. The Frenchman was previously ranked as high as 46th in the world, but entered the match at number 111.

Strong Start for Majchrzak, Then a Dramatic Shift

Majchrzak started brightly, securing an early break and holding a three-game advantage throughout the first set. Yet, serving for the set, he faltered, losing all four points and giving Halys a lifeline.

This marked the beginning of a difficult stretch for the Polish player, who then lost 13 consecutive points. He managed to save a set point in a lengthy game, forcing a tiebreak, but Halys ultimately prevailed 7-6(4).

The first set was a tale of two phases for Majchrzak, separated by reaching a 5-2 lead. Before that point, he was aggressive and surprised Halys with extended rallies, but after that, he struggled with unforced errors. Despite coming so close, he was forced to battle in the second set.

A Disappointing Turn: Majchrzak Struggles in Miami

The second set didn’t start any better for the Polish number one. Halys broke early to take a 4-3 lead and comfortably held serve for the remainder of the match. Despite a glimmer of hope for a comeback, Majchrzak could only manage one game in the second set.

The final score of 7-6(4), 6-1 doesn’t fully reflect the early stages of the match, when Majchrzak dominated several games. The result leaves Majchrzak looking ahead to the ATP 250 event in Marrakech next week.
