La Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM) and the Sindicato de Luz y Fuerza provided music during the protest against the government’s proposal.

The demonstration continued throughout the afternoon, with a vote on the proposal scheduled for approximately 1:00 a.m. On Friday.

No incidents were reported in connection with the protest in Mar del Plata.

Mar del Plata saw widespread protests Thursday as workers and unions mobilized against proposed labor reforms. The demonstrations culminated in a large gathering at the Monumento al General San Martín, a landmark in the city.

The protest, led by the Asociación de Trabajadores del Estado (ATE) and the Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina (CTA), drew significant crowds, with participants claiming a larger turnout than a previous demonstration held on Wednesday when the project advanced in the Senate. Demonstrators carried signs and banners proclaiming “No a la reforma laboral,” or “No to labor reform.”

The city effectively came to a standstill due to the general strike, resuming activity around 4:30 p.m. With the arrival of the massive demonstration. Workers from various unions, including casino employees, participated in the protest. The march began in Plaza Rocha and proceeded along Avenida Luro to the monument.

The Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM) and the Sindicato de Luz y Fuerza provided musical accompaniment during the demonstration, voicing opposition to the government’s initiative. The vote on the proposed reforms is expected around 1:00 a.m. Friday.
