“They Destroyed a Family.” Marcin Hakiel Speaks Out About Katarzyna Cichopek’s Alleged Affair

Marcin Hakiel and Katarzyna Cichopek first met on the set of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2005, where they won the Crystal Ball. The pair quickly became one of Poland’s most talked-about couples, marrying shortly after their time on the show and welcoming two children: son Adam and daughter Helena.

In 2022, news broke of Cichopek and Hakiel’s separation, with both announcing the split in official statements posted on social media. Shortly after, the actress found solace in the arms of Paulina Smaszcz’s ex-husband Maciej Kurzajewski. The couple married in late October of last year.

While Cichopek and Hakiel stated they wouldn’t comment on the divorce for the sake of their children, Hakiel quickly began giving interviews where he didn’t hold back, suggesting infidelity. He now claims to have evidence of Katarzyna Cichopek’s unfaithfulness.

Often there were statements that there was nothing connecting these two, and I have proof that there was an affair. I just lived my life and my wife started being away from home more and more, but somewhere else—it turned out to be in another house with someone else. It’s a farce that people who had an affair at work destroyed a family and are still being used in the public space as role models.

— Hakiel said of Cichopek and Kurzajewski, with Smaszcz agreeing.

Marcin Hakiel revealed that he maintained contact with his ex-wife shortly after the divorce, but stopped when he learned “how much filth she was pouring on me, mainly behind the scenes of various productions.” — I’m not a hypocrite — I don’t like pretending everything is okay when we actually hate each other. No, if we hate each other, we hate each other, and what’s the point of that contact — he confessed on the “WojewódzkiKędzierski” podcast.

When asked by the hosts if he was driven by such strong emotions as hatred, the dancer replied, “I think so.”

— At that time, when the divorce was happening and all that, I think it was some form of hatred. Today, I don’t really have any contact with the person mentioned, and that’s probably the best thing — he stated.

Wojewódzki and Kędzierski also discussed how Hakiel refers to Katarzyna Cichopek, consistently using terms like “that person” or “my ex.”

If you address someone by name—that carries its own message, automatically presenting what your approach is to someone, so what’s the point of being nice to someone if it has nothing to do with being nice. For me, it doesn’t create sense to pretend that I like someone.

— Hakiel said, adding that their communication is “limited” and they most often communicate through their lawyers.
