Geneva’s Musée Ariana is hosting a new solo exhibition dedicated to French artist Marie Ducaté, opening this Friday. The show offers a glimpse into the artist’s creative process, displaying ceramics, tracing paper, watercolors, textiles, and glass within a space designed to evoke her studio environment.
Ducaté, who initially trained as a painter, has worked across a variety of mediums since the 1980s. The exhibition, titled “Marie Ducaté. Simultanés,” invites viewers to explore the textures and colors present in her work, featuring a selection of 130 pieces. As the Musée suisse de la céramique et du verre notes, the exhibition highlights the sensual qualities of the materials.
The exhibition will run through the end of November and will include guided tours and workshops for both adults and children. Ducaté herself will lead a workshop focusing on tracing paper and watercolor techniques.
Visitors can also take advantage of free entry on the first Sunday of each month, without requiring a reservation. Guided tours are scheduled for May 3, June 7 (with the artist present), September 6, October 4, November 1, and November 29, all at 2 p.m. The exhibition is a significant addition to Geneva’s vibrant arts calendar, showcasing a versatile artist with a decades-long career.
