Updates on the proceedings so far can be found here

Police allege that B was sexually assaulted in Lofoten in the fall of 2023, and Høiby has been formally charged with rape. He is also accused of secretly filming the woman’s undercarriage without her knowledge.

Høiby maintains his innocence on both counts.

Requests for comment from the woman’s legal counsel, Lill Vassbotn, have not yet been answered.

The Case Began with a Tinder Match

During the first week of the trial, Høiby stated that he and B connected on the dating app Tinder before meeting and ending up at an after-party.

Prior to the after-party, Høiby and his stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon, attended an event at a local establishment.

Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø has previously stated that Høiby and B initially engaged in consensual sexual activity at the after-party, but that Høiby then allegedly raped the woman while she was incapacitated due to sleep and/or intoxication.

“A film of the woman’s naked lower body was later found, while she was not moving,” Henriksbø said during his opening statement.

Prosecutors believe the fitness tracker data may indicate whether the alleged victim was asleep, based on her pulse rate. However, during his opening statement, Henriksbø noted potential inaccuracies and errors in fitness tracker measurements.

sleep expert and professor Ståle Pallesen has been called as an expert witness to provide his assessment on Thursday.
