Brazilian comedian Marquito, a familiar face on SBT’s Programa do Ratinho, is breathing on his own after being extubated, according to a hospital statement released Sunday, March 1st. The news comes after a week of concern following a motorcycle accident that left the 75-year-aged in a coma.

Marquito underwent delicate spinal surgery on Friday, February 27th, which was reportedly successful, with no complications. Whereas his respiratory condition has improved, the Hospital Nipo-Brasileiro stated that his overall health remains critical and he continues to require intensive care, and physiotherapy.

“The patient Marco Antonio Gil Ricciardelli was extubated this Sunday (03/01/2026) and is breathing spontaneously, with a demand for respiratory physiotherapy and the beginning of motor rehabilitation, according to clinical tolerance,” the hospital’s statement read. “The general condition remains serious, with a need for intensive care and serial reassessments.”

The accident occurred on Wednesday, February 25th, when Marquito lost control of his motorcycle in the Vila Gustavo neighborhood of São Paulo. He sustained a head injury and a spinal lesion, leading doctors to induce a coma. Reports indicate he collided with another motorcycle driven by a nurse, who provided initial assistance before emergency services arrived.

Marquito, whose full name is Marco Antonio Ricciardelli, is a well-known figure in Brazilian entertainment, recognized for his imitations and appearances on Programa do Ratinho. He also previously served as a city councilman in São Paulo from 2012 to 2016 and is the nephew of television presenter Raul Gil.

As of Monday, March 2nd, Marquito remains hospitalized in intensive care, and his condition is still considered grave, according to G1. The latest updates indicate he is currently fever-free, but continues to receive ongoing medical attention. Terra reports.
