Singer-songwriter Marta Grigale has released a recent single, “Rule Book,” and announced her third studio album, “Wrong Woman (According to the Rule Book).” The new track features collaboration with British artist Ruby Duff, as well as Jim Lawton and Kristofer Harris.
Marta shared her thoughts on the song, stating, “In society, there are unwritten norms and rules that aren’t necessarily bad, because otherwise it would descend into anarchy. But sometimes it’s worth looking at these rules with a critical eye and asking yourself if you really agree with them. I hope the irony and energy of ‘Rule Book’ will give listeners the confidence to live by their own rules, not those of others.”
The sound of the new single and the upcoming album, aligns with top Western music standards. Marta’s work has also been gaining international recognition, with “BBC Radio 1” giving “Villain of the Day” its first play on the “Future Pop” demonstrate. Host Jody Bryant simply said, “I just love her!” Her song “Cool” has also been featured in the U.S. Series “Love Island Games,” and she’s received coverage in international publications like Wonderland Magazine, which praised Marta’s “catchy melodies and skillful lyrics.” She has begun working with U.S. Music synchronization agencies and U.K. Music distribution and management companies, leading to a “GAMMA” nomination in the “Year’s Music Export” category for her achievements over the past year.
Despite her growing international success, Marta hasn’t forgotten her fans back home. She will perform a solo concert at Spīķeri Concert Hall in Riga on September 25, performing songs from the new album as well as beloved tracks in Latvian. The announcement of a homecoming concert underscores the artist’s commitment to her roots even as she expands her global reach.
The album, “Wrong Woman (According to the Rule Book),” will be available in vinyl and digital formats starting March 19, combining songs from Parts I & II with three new tracks. A signed 12” vinyl edition is also available for pre-order at Marta’s website.
