Latvian veteran Mārtiņš Meiers is navigating the twilight of his professional basketball career, currently with TalTech in Estonia’s domestic league. The 33-year-old center, a key member of the Latvian national team with 116 appearances, is averaging a steady contribution off the bench as he nears what may be his final season. throughout a career spanning multiple European leagues,Meiers has amassed a notable list of accomplishments,including a polish championship in 2022 and multiple Estonian titles [[1]], [[2]], [[3]].
Veteran center Mārtiņš Meiers is nearing the end of his career with TalTech in Estonia’s domestic league, having appeared in nine games this season. The Jūrmala native is averaging 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14 minutes per game. He also saw action in four games in the European North Basketball League (ENBL), posting 5.3 points and five boards.

The former Latvian national team center has spent the last four seasons establishing himself in Estonian basketball. He first joined Estonian powerhouse Kalev/Cramo in the 2022/2023 season, where he secured his first Estonian championship title. He began the following year with Okapi Aalst in Belgium before returning to Latvia to finish the year with Rīgas Zeļļi, earning a silver medal in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LBL).
At the start of last season, Meiers was a free agent before joining Saldus in the National League. He was quickly re-signed by Tallinna Kalev/Cramo after just one game. Despite a limited role with the Estonian flagman, he added a second Estonian championship title and the Estonian Cup to his resume in the spring. This season, Meiers moved to TalTech, a club with a history of featuring prominent Estonian basketball players as they approach the end of their careers.
Throughout his career, the center, who has played for Ventspils, Liepāja, VEF Rīga, and Rīgas Zeļļi, has one Latvian championship under his belt, won in 2017 with VEF. However, his biggest club achievement is arguably the Polish championship title he won with Wrocław Śląsk in 2022. He has also played professionally in Germany, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, and France. Meiers has also made 116 appearances for the Latvian national team.

A roster change also impacted another center with Latvian club experience on December 2nd. Former Latvijas Universitāte Ukrainian center Ihors Serhejevs was released by Pärnu. The 210-centimeter tall Ukrainian averaged 6.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in the Latvian-Estonian League this season.
