The Meiland family, known for their reality television series, has put their Italian vacation home on the market, citing a newfound contentment with life in the Netherlands. Erica and Martien Meiland currently reside next door to their daughter, Maxime, and her family, making the Italian property redundant.
“We live so well here that we don’t perceive the need to travel abroad regularly. However nice it is there,” Erica Meiland stated.
The Italian house served as a central location during the family’s reality show, Chateau Meiland: La Dolce Vita, but the experience proved to be short-lived. According to RealityFBI, the family initially purchased the vacation home for €70,000. It is now listed for sale at slightly more than double that amount: €150,000. The sale reflects a broader trend of individuals reassessing their property portfolios in a changing economic climate.
Previously, Erica and Martien discussed their new residence, describing it as a family villa designed to accommodate multiple generations. “It looks like one villa, but Maxime and Leroy’s front door is on the side, so it’s a semi-detached house,” Erica explained.
Martien similarly has a dedicated space within the home. “I’m downstairs and on half of the first floor, Martien on the other half of the floor and upstairs,” Erica said. The arrangement highlights the growing demand for multi-generational living spaces.
In December, Martien announced the arrival of a new puppy, further adding to the bustling family life. The family’s transition from a French chateau to a more integrated living arrangement in the Netherlands marks a shift in their lifestyle, and priorities.
The Meiland family announced in October that they were ending their popular reality series, Chateau Meiland, after six years. Martien, Erica, and Maxime Meiland told Shownieuws that they were putting an end to the program after six years. In their new book, Au Revoir, the family reflects on the past period and explains their decision.
