WASHINGTON — First Lady Melania Trump was joined by a humanoid robot at a White House summit on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, highlighting the growing intersection of technology and education. The appearance of the robot, named Figure 03, underscores the Trump administration’s focus on artificial intelligence and its potential applications in various sectors.
The event, the second day of the inaugural Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit, brought together first spouses from 45 other countries and representatives from 28 tech companies. Instead of President Donald Trump, the First Lady walked side-by-side with the humanoid as she hosted a roundtable discussion.
Wearing a white pantsuit and matching heels, Mrs. Trump was accompanied by the sleek, black and white robot into the East Room. Figure 03, developed by the company Figure, greeted guests in multiple languages, offering a wave and stating, “I’m Figure 03, a humanoid built in the United States of America. I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education.”
After the robot completed its welcome and walked down a White House corridor, the First Lady remarked, “It’s fair to state, you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House.”
The summit comes as the Trump administration continues to prioritize tech innovation. On the same day, President Trump appointed 13 tech experts – including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle executive chairman Larry Ellison, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, and Dell founder Michael Dell – to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, according to a White House announcement.
Melania Trump previously launched her “Fostering the Future Together” initiative in September at the United Nations General Assembly. At a White House event focused on her AI education initiative, she stated, “the robots are here,” and added, “our future is no longer science fiction.” She further explained at the summit that “Very soon, artificial intelligence will move from our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility,” and that “Since our environment is designed for people, humanoid systems are uniquely suited to navigate and operate within our world.”
The 5’8”, 135lb robot is touted by its creators as an autonomous tool for delegating household tasks, as reported by NBC New York. The appearance of Figure 03 at the White House follows the release of a documentary about the First Lady on March 9.
